Grants Our Promise: To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures. The Nebraska Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure—along with those who generously support us with their time, talent, and resources—is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in our community. We join more than 100,000 breast cancer survivors and activists around the globe as part of the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting breast cancer. Through events like the Komen Nebraska Race for the Cure®, in 2010 we are investing more than $478,000 in local breast health and breast cancer awareness projects across the state of Nebraska. Up to 75 percent of all funds generated by the Komen Nebraska Affiliate stay in the state, while the remaining income goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Programs supporting research, awards, and educational and scientific programs around the world. The Nebraska Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure offers grants through both our Community Grant s and Small Grant s programs to local non-profit organizations or educational institutions that are meeting the breast health and breast cancer needs in the community. The Komen Nebraska Affiliate has provided funding for programs throughout the entire continuum of care in our ninety-one county service area. Our emphasis is on funding culturally appropriate programs targeting the following groups of women in the Nebraska Affiliate’s 91 county service area: medically-underserved, uninsured or under-insured, low-income, rural, Latina/Hispanic, Asian, Pacific Islander, African American, and American Indian. All requests for science research funding should be directed to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Award and Research Grant Program. More information on research funding is available at http://www.komen.org. Inquiries regarding Komen Nebraska’s Community Grants or Small Grants programs should be directed to Mary Nelson, Grants and Outreach Manager, at mary.nelson@komennebraska.org, or by calling (402) 502-2979 ext. 204. |
