Central Nebraska Race

The Komen Nebraska Affiliate is excited to be hosting a first-ever Race for the Cure event in Central Nebraska, encouraging those in our area to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. Up to 75% of net proceeds generated by the Race stays in our service area to support education, screening and treatment. The remaining 25% goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Programs supporting research, awards, and educational and scientific programs around the world.

Safety and Access
For the safety and security of all participants, please note the following:
     Race bibs will be required for access to all Race-related activities, including the sponsor expo. 
     Rollerblades and pets are discouraged from participating in this event. Thank you for your cooperation.
This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds, rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen Central Nebraska Race for the Cure®.

 

Dates to Remember
September 18th: All teams/team members must register by midnight; participants can still register “individually”
September 27th: Team packet pick-up (captains or designee only)
September 28th: Online registration closes at midnight
September 30th: Individual packet pick-up, UNK Health & Sports Center; In-person registration available
October 1st: In-person registration available on Race Day

     Team Packet Pick-up: Tuesday, September 27, 3:30-6:30 pm (Team Captain or designee only)
     Individual Packet Pick-up: Friday, September 30, 3:30-6:30 pm 
                                         Saturday, October 1, 6:30-7:30 am (Race day)

 

Race Day Schedule
6:30 - 7:30 a.m.  Race Day registration and individual packet pick‐up
6:30 a.m.            Main Street sponsor expo opens**
7:15 a.m.            Survivor Pre-Race rally and photo
7:30 a.m.            Kids one‐mile fun run (ages 3-12)
7:50 a.m.            National anthem at start line
8:00 a.m.            5K run start; 5K walk, immediately after run
8:15 a.m.            1‐mile family fun walk
9:30 a.m.            Awards ceremony
**Must have Race bib for entry into Race activities.

 

Awards
Participants must note “competitive runner” on their registration to be in contention for awards. Awards will be presented to the top three runners in each age category, as well as the overall top male and female runners. The top three survivors will receive special recognition, with the 1st place survivor receiving a free airline ticket! Roundtrip air transportation on American Airlines or American Eagle to any destination in the contiguous US. Limit (1) ticket per household.
