Gillian Anne Piennett Award

Gillian Ann Piennett was a 20+ year survivor who courageously and joyfully celebrated her life by helping other survivors overcome their personal struggle with breast cancer. Even in her final months, wheel chair bound, she still made visits to newly diagnosed women and carried her message of hope. Her commitment and selfless acts of encouragement made her the epitome of the survivor’s survivor. The Nebraska Affiliate honors her strength, and courage by recognizing other survivors who have given hope and encouragement to their sister survivors.

Agnes Lempka Award

Agnes Lempka lived quietly but profoundly with breast cancer for 38 years. She never talked about her diagnosis publicly until she attended her first survivor luncheon in 1999. She became a strong supporter of the Affiliate and so we honor an individual who shows unwavering support to the Komen mission. The recipient may be a survivor, a co-survivor, or friend of Komen.
